چکیده

| We describe a simple integer-valued \hash" function h(x), where x is a binary word of some xed length. This hash function has the properties that 1. h(x) may be computed in O(n) steps where n is the length of x, 2. h(y) may be computed in O(d) time, if h(x) is known and y and x diier at d (known) bits. 3. h is \locally collisionless:" h(x) 6 = h(y) if x 6 = y and x and y are Hamming distance k apart. These properties of our hash functions emerge from simple number theoretic arguments. Modiications of the same idea work for ternary words and binary words of constant weight. We mention two applications of this hash function in computer programming: to playing the Oriental game of Go, and to a new heuristic method of nding good local optima for intractible combinatorial optimization problems. As an application of these properties in mathematics, we obtain new error correcting codes to radix B, with minimal distance 3. We nd a lower bound on the number of codewords which implies, subject to a certain number-theoretic conjecture , that these codes include an innnite number of new record-cardinality distance-3 codes. Regardless of the fate of that conjecture, our construction certainly leads to thousands of particular new record ternary codes.

Compressed Image Hashing using Minimum Magnitude CSLBP

Image hashing allows compression, enhancement or other signal processing operations on digital images which are usually acceptable manipulations. Whereas, cryptographic hash functions are very sensitive to even single bit changes in image. Image hashing is a sum of important quality features in quantized form. In this paper, we proposed a novel image hashing algorithm for authentication which i...

On Hash - Coding Algorithms

We examine the efficiency of generalized hash-coding algorithms for performing partial-match searches of a random--access file of binary words. A precise charac terization is given of those hash functions which minimize the average number of buckets examined for a search ; and a new class of combinatorial designs is introduced which permits the construction of hash functions with worst-case be...

Measurement of Thermophysical Properties of Pure and Mixture of Alkanolamines from 288.15-323.15 K

Density, viscosity and refractive index of pure, binary and ternary mixtures of diethanolamine (DEA) and methyl diethanolamine (MDEA) with water have been measured at different temperatures from 288.15 K to 323.15 K at atmospheric pressure. Also, this study presents the effects of mixture composition and temperature upon these thermo- physical properties. To measure the density and refractive i...

Subword complexity and power avoidance

We begin a systematic study of the relations between subword complexity of infinite words and their power avoidance. Among other things, we show that – the Thue-Morse word has the minimum possible subword complexity over all overlapfree binary words and all (73)-power-free binary words, but not over all ( 7 3) +-power-free binary words; – the twisted Thue-Morse word has the maximum possible sub...

Semi Empirical Calculation of Intermolecular Potentials and Transport Properties of Some Binary and Ternary Industrial Refrigerant Mixtures

In this study the intermolecular potential energies of some environment-friendly industrial HFC refrigerants were obtained through the inversion method which is based on the corresponding states principle. These potentials were later employed in calculation of transport properties (viscosity, diffusion, thermal conductivity and thermal diffusion factor) of some binary and ternary refrigerant mi...
